XRCD (Extended Resolution Compact Disc)

XRCD encodes analog signal at 16 bits/44.1 kHz.

XRCD2 and XRCD24, which are improved versions of the original XRCD process, uses JVC's K2 20 bit or 24 bit ADC.

 

HDCD (High Definition Compatible Digital)

HDCD is developed by Reference Recordings and Pacific Microsonics because of CD's critical problem (low quantization bit depth, sampling rate, and narrow frequency range)

It does not compress analog signal and it's quantization bit depth is 24 (Here is the reason why it is called "High Definition")
